Some things don't make sense
I know you all are bombarded by hate and have a lot to sift through, and I'm probably going to get lost in the sea of hate, and also probably going to say the same things that a lot of other people have said, but here it goes anyway. These are just some of the things I am not too fond of at the moment. I'll update as I try/find out more features.
UI Change
A lot of people really liked that the app looked like the desktop version. I LOVED that it was almost a perfect match of the desktop app. It actually felt like I was using Discord. This UI change doesn't even feel like Discord now, it feels like something completely different and I really dislike going from the desktop to this and feeling like I'm not even using Discord anymore. It feels like I'm using Twitter or some other app that isn't Discord. I'm not a fan at all.
The UI was forced upon many of us. Sure some people got to try it for a while, but a lot of us didn't, and at least the people that did had the option of turning it off if they didn't like it. I think it was a huge mistake to just force this upon many of us when a lot of us were blissfully happy with the UI already. People don't like being forced into huge changes that they don't like.
UI Colors
-The color contrast gives me a huge headache and a lot of other people as well. I strongly dislike using the app because of this alone. I used to love messaging my friends on it daily, but now I would rather use the desktop app any time I can use it over the app. I also dislike reading stuff on Reddit and Twitter for the same reasons. The dark grey was perfect for my eyes.
- The gradients also hurt my eyes. I enjoyed the flat colors that we had previously. I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to make themes with flat colors again. I know myself and a lot of other people would greatly appreciate having flat colors again.
-I love dark mode, but not THIS dark. I would really love the old grey color scheme to come back as a theme.
Messages
I really dislike the messages being in their own tab. I know it might have seemed like a good idea, but the way it was before was so seamless and felt really nice and cohesive. With the new tab, it almost feels as though I'm using a separate feature. It doesn't feel like one big happy family like it used to. As someone who frequently has multiple server conversations going on as well as several DM conversations happening at the same time, it really isn't a good change for me, and a lot of my friends feel the same.
Server Member List
I really dislike this change. I really enjoyed being able to swipe left to see the user list in every server and see people's profiles in DMs. This swipe to reply is completely unnecessary. It takes 2 seconds to tap on someone's message and hit reply. I look at the member list and people's profiles while DMing way more than I need to swipe to reply to people. I know a lot of people also feel the same way, so why the change? It's not even about muscle memory, it's just more convenient in every way.
Blue Dot??
I'm not a fan of the blue dot that indicates I have a message in another server. I always miss it and it blends in with the background unless I have a white theme. I would really love a red dot there instead. The blue dot makes no sense at all.
Conclusion
Overall I don't entirely hate the new UI, I just think there is a lot of things that used to be around that are far better options. I have been using Discord since the year it came out. I really enjoy it and I never thought it would go through such a drastic change as this. Discord was perfect the way it was, and I hope you all can see that. You don't have to be like every other lame company out there. That's what made you guys stand out. That's why your platform grew and grew and grew, because people felt at home with Discord. Don't slap all of us in the face by changing what we already loved. Overall I'm just disappointed and hope to see some change.

The UI not feeling like discord anymore is such a big one for me - at this point it's on par with every other “improved” social media messaging interface, with a lack of any unique setup and the softer, rounder appearance that feels like a copy of instant messaging apps. At this point, why not just use one of those? It all looks and acts the same anyway.
It doesn't make sense why they'd change it permanently, and not even consider adding a desktop view toggle.
5 -
I loved that Discord looked pretty much the same on both desktop and mobile. Like you said, it felt like DISCORD. It wasn't unoptimized at all. It was, as you said, very seamless. I strongly dislike the changes that were made and I'm an advocate either for their removal or the addition of an option to toggle the “OG layout” back on and for it to STAY that way this time. WHY would they take that away and force everyone to use their… “grand” new idea? It sucks. Simple as that. A change was not needed or asked for in this instance.
