New darker "Dark" theme Is Unusable for Migraine/Sight-Impaired Users - Make the OLD Dark theme a pickable option
I know I'm not the only person to say this, but it's really important that the devs see how many people are having this problem.
Go ahead and keep the new Midnight theme, I'm sure some people love it. Go ahead and even keep the new “Dark” theme if you must, but it's absolutely NOT the same as the previous Dark theme. Please give us an option to select the old GRAY version of the Dark theme.
I can add to the chorus of many other users reporting that this new darker, higher contrast, brighter text “Dark” theme is directly impacting my health and ability to use the app.
The old Dark theme was a miraculous sweet spot. It was a genius balance of contrast, darker background (in warm dark tones, that's critical), and easily legible text. In decades no other application has come even close to replicating the accessibility friendliness of the old gray dark theme. As someone suffering from severe chronic migraines and the accompanying intense light and eye strain sensitivity, I used to be able to read Discord for hours at a time in any light (outdoors, indoors, pitch dark at night) with no trouble at all as long as it was on the beautiful classic gray Dark theme.
On the new “Dark” theme I struggle in every light, and I can't focus on the app screen for more than a couple minutes at a time before I start to feel migraine aura setting in. The words are hard to focus at all times, and last night I tried to push on to see if I could get through the initial discomfort and ended up with a terrible migraine within half an hour.
I personally hate almost all the UI changes, but whatever, everyone hates change, and eventually we get used to it because that's human nature, I'm a grown up, I can deal. But this inexplicable removal of the old Dark theme is seriously game-changing, it's physically limiting my ability to engage with an app that I otherwise use extensively every single day.
Keep your new themes, I'm sure they work for others, just please give us the OPTION to have the OLD gray Dark theme BACK. There's absolutely no excuse for not doing this, we know the coding still exists, because it's still in use on the desktop (thank GOD), and was still working on “Automatic” until someone went in and nuked that. We know it's not a matter of “oh the new UI makes it hard to differentiate push buttons/bubbles/delimeters if we keep that color” because the Midnight theme makes those boundaries practically invisible and they don't care, clearly that's deemed acceptable in some themes, so there's no reason to not let people choose the old gray Dark theme even if it has that “problem” like other themes do.
I can understand that the dev team may not have photo sensitive migraine sufferers on staff, so it's understandable this might not have been caught before release. But now that you have your user base reporting to you, for mercy's sake just restore the old Dark theme colors as an option!!!

I'm aware that the new Dark theme is supposed to save on battery life. It's certainly saving the battery life of my phone as I can no longer look at Discord for more than a minute or two at a time without developing headaches. The old gray Dark theme was infinitely preferable for my eyes and my head.

I also definitely don't like the new Dark theme and want the option for the old Grey theme. It personally doesn't hurt my eyes but that doesn't mean it's fun to look at.
I wish discord would stop changing things that aren't broken, it just makes everyone unhappy for no reason other than to say “Change”

I used to use discord as the primary way to contact my friends, now I’m thinking of switching to messenger because I just can’t use it. I stopped paying nitro because why would I pay for an app I can’t use?

Ditto here. The new UI and theme are completely usable. If I try to use them, I become fully disabled for the rest of the day with migraines and nausea, if I didn't use it for more than a minute, the eye strain will hopefully become better after a few days.
I've canceled my Nitros and boosts. I usually gift Nitros around this time of year, but not this time. We've started looking in to alternatives to move our communities to since its extremely likely this horrible anti-accessibly design is going to be forced on to the desktop app and web app versions next.
