png superior

alright so im not sure if this is limited to mobile but lets say i have a .png photo, and then i decide to use it as my pfp, but the .png becomes a .jpg and i dont want that, is there any way you could make the conversion jpg to png and keep png pfps as png, or atleast make a pfp option to make the pfp appear like a .jpg or a .png
