Discord gives me 5000ms ping
So I'm getting this really weird issue where my internet will be fine, everything's working, but Discord and only Discord will say that I have 5000ms ping when I hover over the "Voice Connected" panel on the bottom left. I can hear everyone else fine, but they can't hear me. I'm not sure what's causing this - I started pinging Google to see if my internet was the problem, but it's sub 100ms there. It happens often, and it's ALWAYS at 5000ms. People will hear me talk for a bit when I get into calls, and then it's like Discord assigns this to me after the fact.
Is there a fix for this?

Still having this problem, been having it for a couple weeks. I've tried just about every fix I can find, nothing. Doesn't affect my wife's computer with same specs on same network, only my computer.

I have suffering from this problem since three months. When will be fixed?

I've been having this problem for a couple weeks now, I've contacted discord support and i'm hoping to get a fix for this issue soon. Because its really irritating that I have this problem, but my sister has never experienced it even though we're using the same connection.

I changed my DNS to google, 8,8,8,8 8,8,4,4 and that fixed it for me. The hotel I'm at must've had some weird settings.

This is an eternally late response, but hopefully it helps.
I had the issue for couple of days, and it got solved (at least until now) by changing the DNS to 8.8.8.8 primary, and 8.8.4.4 secondary, Waste1and gets credit for this if it works for you as he mentioned it way earlier.P.S If you don't know what the DNS is and how to change it, just google "How to change DNS in [Your router name]", it is usually straight forward to do it. It is a safe operation, and can be changed at any time.
The issue seems to be between the internet connection and the Discord server not being able to resolve the IPs properly, hence, why it sometimes happens and sometimes doesn't (sometimes it disappears if you restart/change your IP address).
Hopefully this is of help to any of you guys.
Cheers.

Tried a bunch of these solutions and got no results. At some point someone recommended trying using Discord 'in browser' and it worked! I have no idea how or why, but my ping never jumps to 5000, and I never spike to 100% packet loss on either inbound OR outbound traffic. Maybe my symptoms will help someone troubleshoot the issue at fault here, but I'm just happy to have voice chat working again.

Me too but in my situation it is I join the voice chat and then everything's fine, but discord shows my ping is at 5000 for no reason and my rhythm bot is stuttering every 2 mins or so and also speeding up and slowing down my songs please help

Fix for 5000ms issue with Discord
I had the same issue. Did this creepy thing but worked for me.
* Change the server group country location to some other and save changes. (right click server group-> server option)
* Again change the country location back to the original.
Problem solved. Hope it will help us all!!!

Hm. I average around 35ms ping. Maybe try uninstalling and reinstalling discord or restarting your pc. If it didn't work or you don't want to do those steps, try talking with the discord staff. (Picture of my ping)

I have the exact same problem. Every 10-15 mins ping is going to 5000ms. I can hear everyone but they cant hear me for around 1-2 mins. Problem only occurs on the windows app. Smartphone and Webbrowser works fine and there are no pingspikes. I deleted discord and the whole config on %appdata%, tried google DNS, tried disabling ipv6, router reset. Nothing helped. Its very frustrating. At the beginnig this problem occured only a few times a week/month but since a few months this happens every 10-15 mins...
I did not change any hardware or network driver since then. It has to be a software problem on Windows 10...0 -
I’ve made no changes and this issue has not reoccurred in about 6 weeks of almost daily use 🤷

Happens to me as well, and if i try to reenter the voice room i just get no route up to 15 min, and then i get this overall ping that i can hear everyone but they cant hear me. And yes my internet is working smoothly and good, in games im always 40 ping and speed test im with 25 ping

SOLUTION:
So it turned out that I had a custom DNS server in my Internet settings. I switched it back to set DNS server automatically and it fixed all my issues.

The only way that I can avoid this problem is by using a VPN, but without it discord just won't work.

Still the same problem as mentioned 2 weeks ago... The only solution is to use the webbrowser version. The desktop app still doesnt work properly. Hope Discord will finally fix this.

Same issue, ping at 5k, nobody can hear me but I can hear them. Browser surfing still works. It will also disconnect me from the game I'm playing though. But other applications don't loose connection.
