I know this is duplicate of https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360062334332-AV1-video-codec-support-for-uploaded-files , but I wanna add some detail to this request.

AV1 video codec and AVIF (AV1 image file format) have very strong compression without visible loss, and for now it supported by Windows https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/av1-video-extension/9mvzqvxjbq9v , and have fast decoders like dav1d, and of course, hardware decoder in new NVIDIA video cards.

Specially for AVIF, already exists lib that you can use for Discord https://github.com/Kagami/avif.js

    It's been a while and I didn't see anything happened. Especially AV1 now being a lot more acceissible.
