Make the date format suit the user's country

This has been bugging me for a while now. As a New Zealander the date format for previously sent messages shows in the american date format (MM/DD/YYYY), this continuously frustrates me as over here our format is (DD/MM/YYYY) - and I have to take a second look at the age of a message. Example below. It would be great if this could be changed to automatically display it in the right format depending on the device's country. Example below.

    This is so needed. In Europe too this format leads to confusions.

    I changed my language from English - US to English - UK and it changed the date format to dd/mm/yyyy :-)
