Set a custom image as the background theme for Discord on Mobile.

Good morning, sir. Could you add an option in the Discord on Mobile settings that will allow you to add a custom or recommended image by yourself as a background theme please? That would be very nice of you because the dark mode is nice but I don't think I'm the only one who wants a custom theme on the app on Android or iOS. Thanks!

    There is a few problems with this request that makes it faulty. First, setting an image by yourself may cause problems that make the text hard to read. The only way to solve this is to only use backgrounds with certain colors, which narrows down the user's choice a lot. Or, Discord could make an AI that can recognize the background's colors and accommodate to that, but that is unnecessary and takes a lot of work to make.

     

    Second, the backgrounds could be abused by using NSFW images. If NSFW images are used, and the interface is shared to the public/social media, it would create a bad impression on the safety of Discord for minors. This can reduce the effectiveness of Discord's advertising practices as a messaging platform with a safe environment.

    I mean people can make server pfp NSFW and their own pfp NSFW I dont see the problem and with the whole text thing you could just have it so it can be darker or lighter

    I would love if you could add a custom background on discord.

     

    It would really help have good themes and a better understanding of the server if you are a server owner/developer like me.

    I mean, if discord is so preoccupied with creating a safe environment, just add themes created by discord itself. Like varied colors, designs, and games.

    I mean I think its a cool idea. Like bro I'd love to be able to have a Haikyuu background. Although if you do it for mobile discord you should also do it for PC/desktop version as well. And with the custom background you should also have that the text color can be changed so you can see what is being sent.

    Also Atheryx if a custom background is used it wouldnt be seen by other people unless they share a picture of it.

    I fully agree with this idea and think it should be added, creating an AI to recognize colours and change text is such a simple thing to add even a cheap editing website could do it. Or we could have the option to change text colour as well to suit the background but everyone knows how windows have the cursor colour that changes with different colours so discord can use something similar.

    On desktop just use bandaged bd (better discord) there are tons of themes and template choose and edit form online, I recommend not another anime theme and then you can switch out your own images from links or files just look for a tutorial on YouTube. I don't know of any real solution for mobile tho. Also BD discord does NOT violate the TOS so you won't get banned or anything. Also on top of a background and color changing, you can also add really cool add-ons and plugins as well

    well, for pc there is "better discord" that allows to choose whatever background you want.
    why not to do the same for the phone app 🤔
