suggestion for "too many users have this username"

off the top of my head there are two simple ways to go about improving this for discord users

1. a user can submit a ticket requesting a username, and if a user with this username has been inactive for a certain period of time they may have their username changed to it - this is how many other services operate and in short; it works

2. users inactive for a certain period of time (3-6 months?) have their username changed to some generic placeholder e.g. user1731#xxxx to free up the usernames for active users - i haven't seen this often myself aside from account migration aftermath but i imagine this could work quite well for discord and from a user point of view it would be much more simple compared to #1

i don't know how many inactive users discord has but i'd wager this could free up thousands of usernames, and #2 could potentially reduce the amount of support tickets made on this topic allowing support staff to address more important issues
