Full screen, screen share, and chat no longer work together nicely

Use to be able to watch a friend share his screen, then go in to full screen mode, but had a small maybe 2 inch window at the bottom to show the chat box and maybe last 3 messages sent. It no longer does that since the update. I would like that back please, as I generally don't talk and use chat instead.
