Lack of support from Trust and Safety relating to banned accounts, and GDPR compliance
I had an account wrongfully disabled last week even though I did not violate the TOS. I have been trying to come to a resolution with the team but have yet to receive any reply, and from the accounts, I have heard on this site and through social media, it is unlikely I ever will.
This brings me to wonder whether the banning issue that everyone seems to be facing makes the process UK and EU GDPR compliant.
Particularly relating to automated processes mentioned as such:
"As well as restricting the circumstances in which you can carry out solely automated individual decision-making (as described in Article 22(1)) the UK GDPR also:
- requires you to give individuals specific information about the processing;
- obliges you to take steps to prevent errors, bias and discrimination; and
- gives individuals rights to challenge and request a review of the decision."
Points 2 and 3 don't seem to be fulfilled here as there is clearly a mountain of errors and users are not provided with any transparency as to the specific action that caused them to be banned. Also, considering how many personal accounts I have received, it is clear that the challenge and review processes are essentially dysfunctional.
Further guidance from the ICO states:
"You must:
- provide meaningful information about the logic involved in the decision-making process, as well as the significance and the envisaged consequences for the individual;
- use appropriate mathematical or statistical procedures;
- ensure that individuals can:
- obtain human intervention;
- express their point of view; and
- obtain an explanation of the decision and challenge it;"
If I remember correctly, EU GDPR rules are very similar, as this law was transposed into UK law after Brexit. It'd be great to hear back from someone in the team about this, or be signposted in a direction where I can discuss GDPR compliance further?
It'd also be great to hear some feedback from the community about similar regulations in their jurisdictions, and whether or not they agree.
Regards,
Concerned user.

Your account was probably disabled by mistake just like countless others were. I've already started tagging various accounts on twitter about this. You can retweet what I've written there, edit it, add your own, tweet some of the same people... You know, whatever fixes this. It's beyond ridiculous that Discord hasn't tried to reply or attempt a solution.
Feel free to DM me on twitter as well. I'm going to try to gather everyone's names who have been affected.

Your account was disabled falsely (probably). You will not get help here from discord support. Go to https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/requests/new and submit a request and hope for the best. Also, can you tell us why your account was disabled?
BTW discord is run by bots. Discord support is poor and the few humans take a long time to respond. I've been doxxed even and the person did not get banned (i reported but moderators keep deleting the dox messages). However innocent people are getting banned.Many accounts are banned falsely simply for joining a lot of servers in a little time and sending a lot of messages and this happens to a lot of people. Discord's way of identifying bots is so incredibly poor.

I've sent a message already to the Trust & Safety team but I've been ignored. I attempted to join a new server, filled in the captcha and as soon as I solved it, I was locked out of my account and received an email to say it has been disabled for Spam/Breach of TOS.
I also will not simply leave it to hoping for the best as I would like to retrieve the account before it is permanently deleted. So if I do not receive an adequate reply by tomorrow (7 days after the wrongful action) I will be submitting a formal complaint about Discord's automated processes to the UK ICO 🤷🏾♀️

Sorry I did not tell you about this.
However, if you create a new account, do not just join all your previous account's servers. It will think you are a spam bot (very unprofessional method of identifying bots).
Take it slow as if you were a new user. Join some public server (such as minecraft official, fortnite official, etc.) because a new user would not randomly join some server like that.
