The ability to turn off pings

i’m okay with pings, but it gets super annoying when people spam, which happens A LOT to me. there could be this feature where i could only let certain people ping me (sorted by friends, server members and everyone). PLEASE ADD THIS FEATURE I BEG

    This is likely an issue with replies -- users like to use replies for every message, and very few take the time to disable ping.
    So, instead of disable ping for recipient, I would say, redirect this to fixing replies.

    However, in the case that it is *NOT* replies causing this, here's what I would suggest;
    If it's a bunch of users just pinging you (@ your username), set your own boundaries for what you are okay with. Friends will respect that, and anyone who doesn't can be filtered out by blocking them, or potentially even using notification settings.

    I would also suggest, though, that having repeated pings from any given other user, within minutes of each other could be filtered out (and thus, not ping, nor indicate a new @ mention)
