Add a "Publish Post" permission, to control who can publish without restricting users from a channel
Currently (As far as I know/have googled) you can control who can chat in an announcement channel, but you can't restrict who can publish (Other than stopping a user from using the channel altogether). If a publish permission were to be added, server admins could open announcement channels to a wider userbase, then selectively publish the better entries.
My use case is a channel where games that go on sale/free games/games that are free for a limited time (Like epic games' free weekly games) gets posted. My current workaround for this issue is having a tiny userbase who I trust to publish free games. A better solution would be to allow anyone to post to that channel, but limit who can actually publish said posts.
Another use case I can think of is a gaming community having a highlight reel channel, where everyone can post awesome videos, moments, and pictures, then managers can publish the best of the best to get sent to following discords.
A global workaround for this issue is currently to have two channels, one open to everyone and one limited to staff, where staff cherry picks specific posts and repost them into the "real" announcement channel.

Would be nice to allow for discussions in a channel and if something big happens a simple push to notify all following communities of that *individual* message would rock.

Current implementation (as per the support article on announcement channels) is:
- Send Messages Permission will only let you publish your own messages
- Manage Messages Permission will let you publish all messages in the Announcement Channelif that helps you think of an implementation where it works for your case
