I can't edit my role even though it's the highest role on the server
I'm stuck with a stupidly-colored role named "asd" because nobody in the server has a higher role than it, and so nobody can edit it. I get why your highest role is locked under normal circumstances, but I can't think of any reason why it should apply to the highest role on the entire server.
-
Well, your not the owner of the guild, so its normal you can't edit your own highest role.
And it is good how it is.

Nobody is the owner, I have the highest role on the entire server and nobody can edit it. I don't see what's good about it.
1 -
"Nobody is the owner" and there is the error.
No one can't do anything about it.
Someone has to be the previous server owner.
And if the person doesn't exist anymore, you only can ask the support to transfer the server.

The highest rights are always reserved for the guild owner.
When everyone with admin perms could edit their highest role, they could outplay the owner and thats not how it works.

I'm also the previous server owner, I just didn't like the crown icon so I got rid of being the server owner. I don't see why the highest role on the server shouldn't be able to edit itself.

In this case, there is no risk of the owner getting outplayed since there is no owner.

Then it's your own fault, get the owner back or let it how it is

It's not my fault that Discord is lacking this functionality, it's Discord's fault.
1 -
It is YOUR FAULT
1 -
Good point, it's absolutely my fault for using Discord. Should have used IRC and it would work exactly the way I want.
-1 -
No.
It's your fault if you try to bypass the normal mechanics of Discord.
You can't be helped because what you did was not intended.Putting all that aside. The crown, for example, is not displayed on my own server because there is a certain number of users.
1 -
If Discord's normal mechanics prevent users from achieving the end result they want to achieve, that's not the users' fault.
1 -
From a developer's point of view, your opinion about this is rubbish.
If you are not happy with it, then find an app that is not as secure as Discord.0 -
This has nothing to do with security. There is literally no risk involved.
0 -
There is, but you don't get it.
Try to understand the ways how discord works and what purpose discord features have.
Then talk again.
-1 -
Ah yes, the terrifying risk of me taking over my own server.

Thank me later

All roles equal to and above your roles will appear with a lock next to their name. This enables server owners to establish multiple roles with separate administrative powers that can't interfere with each other.
This is the omega role! Giving this role to a user grants them all of the permissions in the permissions list! They also cannot be locked out of any voice or text channel, regardless of permissions. That's a tall order. This permission also lets users with that role assign any permission to roles underneath them in the hierarchy, though they still can't affect their role and any above them in the hierarchy. Real talk: with great permissions power comes great permissions responsibility. Assign with caution.
This permission allows a role to create new roles beneath them, then edit them accordingly. Keep in mind that this role comes 2nd to the Administrator role, and although you can add, edit, and assign new roles to users, you still can't edit your role and roles above yours. Additionally, you can only assign permissions that you have to roles under you. If your role doesn't have banning members enabled, you can't let other users ban them either. Duh.
Another important point to remember about managing roles is if you have multiple roles, you can't remove a permission from a lower role that would remove it from yourself.
Additional to the role sorting hierarchy, there's a special exception placed on banning, kicking, and nicknaming members: Even if users have ban/kick/nickname permissions, they cannot ban / kick / change nicknames of anyone with the same role or a role higher than theirs.

I could figure out that much from the client, the problem is that this is stupid. I'll thank you later if you make it possible to run a server where everyone has equal administrative privileges.

Will never happen

With that attitude, it's no surprise your product is still inferior to IRC.
Why do you even have devs doing customer support?0 -
This is the community forum, I'm a user / bot dev :*
customer support would be https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

I thought this was the feedback forum. Silly me, thinking that the forum that says "Feedback" would actually be that.
-1 -
You don't know discord well enough, do you?
1 -
That's fair, in retrospect I really should have known Discord well enough to expect that a forum named something is actually not that thing.
