Message Confirmation setting for posting to broadcast channels
Situation: I have broadcast channels that are used to disseminate information on a specific topic. Most users are read only to these channels to keep them exclusive to these informational messages. This keeps the message history topical and allows by-channel alerting to be highly targeted.
Problem: Organizationally, I have users that need access to post to these information channels, but they are not technically savvy. These users keep engaging cross-talk from these users on these broadcast channels, along the lines of "okay", "thanks", "way to go", "I like cookies", and "that reminds me I need to add milk to my shopping list". This clutters the history and over-pings users that are electing to only hear topically relevant updates. They are always chagrined when this is brought to their attention, and I believe they are simply familiar with single bucket chat threads rather than a group server with channels, and they are forgetting where they are on the server when these incidents happen.
Proposal: A simple message confirmation option set per channel. I don't need to stop anyone from being able to post al la permissions, but am suggesting a dialog box that could pop up and either provided a custom message or say something along the lines of "Message Confirmations are turned on for this channel. Are you sure you want to post this message here?" Y/N. This would remind users where they are and that this is not the place for casual messages and prevent a minor annoyance barrier to them while not preventing users with permission from posting as needed.
