Folders should work like categories, but for servers
One of the main problems of discord is information overload.
To prevent that folders should behave like categories, but for servers.
In a category you can select how channels should behave by default and when you move a channel in there you get asked if you wish to abide by the new standards.
Not only this would improve vertical simmetry...
It sort of makes sense for a folder to have a menu similar to that of a server where you can choose what you can be notified about, where and what are the exceptions.
Maybe i have a username, but some servers are for work and i want those servers to have a nickname i use for work, and also not know if/when i am playing.
Maybe some servers are for entertainment and i do not wish to be notified of anything when i am working so an easy "mute for 8/12/16 hours" that works on the entire folder would stop me from seeing the red dot on the tray icon and check if it's from work servers or the silly ones every 10 minutes.
Maybe i have servers from game companies or other communities... where i care about the sole updates and the "@everyone"s so telling the folder "mute everything but these specific categories of community servers" is just my way of controlling spam from people i never know but still want to engage with in case i see they are doing things in a way i strongly do/don't like.
basically, this would reduce for me the time i need to set up each server because i need to be able to reach out to certain groups of people because it is important but on my terms and not be bombarded/overloaded by the constant nagging feeling that it could be one of the things i care about at that moment that needs my attention.
And... what i care about changes over time, as work groups are more important during work hours and i wish to be able to mute them when i am not working, vice versa i would like to dedicate my attention to other interests when i choose stuff like "today i am going to check the servers about art/games/sewing/body-building/fitness/etc."
And the red dot on the tray icon is so generic it makes it impossible to understand where the information is coming from and makes me want to shut down the entire application in frustration.
therefore missing on important info from the people i need to get those info from.
