Show voice activity while viewing other servers

It always freaks me out when I don't know what's being picked up by my mic, and it's irritating to only see the voice activity detector light up (or not) while I'm either looking at the voice channel or scrolled to where I can see it on the channel list. I think this could be helped by showing the user profile at the bottom left with a green circle around it that lights up the same as icons in VCs do. That way, no matter what channel or server is being viewed, voice activity will be shown. On mobile, since you can't see your own profile unless you navigate to a specific page, perhaps a green outline on the whole screen or a separate feature on the side?
