Warnings before Accounts get Disabled (Deleted)
I know there was another post made about this but I would like to lay out some additional reasons.
Quite unfortunately, around a month and a half ago my friend's account was disabled without any warning from discord, and the email he received about it gave a broad list of reasons as to why his account was disabled. I know people that have been disabled in the past, and they get a similar message but it specifies what they did (eg raiding, nsfw in non nsfw channels, bullying, etc. My friend received no warning of the sort before his account was disabled specifying what activity he was engaging in that violated the TOS/CG, and as a result he appealed. When he appealed he received the email below:
"Discord has disabled your account for violating our Terms of Service or Community Guidelines. We’ve reviewed and confirmed this violation, and we will not reinstate your account.
You should've received an email with more information regarding this violation. If you have any questions as to what behavior resulted in your account being disabled, please refer to that email."
My friend scoured the TOS and CG trying to find what he did wrong, and really found nothing, which was very odd, and as a result he continuously emailed discord to try to get them to at least tell him why his account was disabled. The previous email which I described earlier did not provide specifics, it just talked about "your account has been disabled for any of the following: spamming dms, spamming discord, self-botting, fraudulent activity" none of which my friend did.
Unfortunately, after a month, his account was automatically deleted by discord, once again with no warning.
I completely understand why discord disables/deletes accounts that have violated the terms of service/community guidelines, however on almost every other website I'm on, the website warns the user of their activity before actually disabling/deleting their account, and the majority of the time, if the user writes a thorough and thoughtful appeal, the website will allow the user to have their account back under the condition that the user does not do [what they did wrong] again.
I personally feel it should be standard policy for discord to warn users before taking action on their account (with some exceptions as in continuous hate speech, other illegal activity, etc). However, after anyone's account is disabled, I feel that discord should take time to investigate the situation and figure out exactly why that person's account was disabled. I know that my friend has spent many hours emailing discord support, and the time it would have taken them to spend 15 minutes to look into the situation would have been much less than the hours of them responding to him (under multiple different tickets).
Hopefully, the discord developers see this and decide to implement this policy or something like this policy, especially as it benefits them as well; support personnel won't have to spend as long answering tickets and the whole process just goes by much faster, especially because if an appeal is denied then the user would at least like to know what they did wrong, and this whole process would really clarify it for them.
