Merging DC++ with Discord
It would be awesome if you guys could join forces with the guys developing software for the DC network.. I can imagine that you'd get hundreds (Probably thousands) of more users just because of that.
If the concern would be piracy, you just leave that to a disclaimer and the responsibility to the hub-owners and their users.
Could at the same time mean a business deal for purchasing VPN and similar solutions for the users.
Of course that would mean anonymity as an option also, and there are business to be made there as well with partnerships (anonymous mail) and so on.
Would boost revenue I think for each party involved, and the DC network could flourish once again.
They could use the face lift, and I'm sure you could come up with some spectacular new features to entice third party software developers to make scripts.
And, think of all the thousands of existing DC users there, still clinging on to old buggy software, and I'm sure they'd be thrilled to being able to send gifs as the Discord client can.
The options today is old worn out smileys that isn't compatible with all clients.
You could (re)pioneer this area.
Offer the features that Discord has, plus implement the DC connectivity with encryption and a script API for the client, and pretty much all the hubs can offer when it comes to management.
Finally, I'd like to say that just because Torrents are generally better, there are times you can't find what you're looking for since a Torrent is only kept alive as long as the content is of interest to anyone, while DC offers whatever the users have to share, which very well might be what you're looking for.
Win-win for all.
Then, the matter of piracy is better left out, as it falls on the users responsibility not to infringe on copyrighted property and so on, and so forth.
If I was a programmer, I'd make something like that, but I'm not, so I won't, sadly.
