Pings automatically set to ON when replying

I am in a Discord group with an option to choose a Do Not Ping role because pings negatively effect me but the latest iteration of the message reply feature defaults to ON when choosing to reply and many members do not know how or that they can change this manually before sending a nessage. I request that the default reply option is set to OFF so that, as another said and I can only paraphrase since I don't trust my memory on exact quotes: I'd rather take the effort to do something I want to do rather then something I don't. Thanks if anyone reads and dies something about this because I don't want mods to be forced to take action on my behalf for something out out if our control and punish anyone for a mistake the Discord team made all too easy to make.

    i completely support this, and i want to double up on it to add that it's obnoxious to have someone reply-ping you when you're present and actively speaking in a conversation.  pings are supposed to be for getting someone's attention/calling them to the conversation.
