Let users mute a category and then unmute specific channels
Currently, barring server permission setups, the only way to hide channels you're not interested in is muting them.
You can even mute a whole category. That's great!
Except, when you've got a category where you want to ignore all of it EXCEPT for one or three channels.
In that case, you can't mute the category and then just unmute the channels you want to see. Instead you have to go through the entire category and mute potentially dozens of channels, just to limit the display to the few channels you want to see.
The obvious way to implement this without a big structural change is to treat "muted" as a masking setup like permissions, with three states (default, muted, unmutted). Muting a channel sets the mask from unmuted to muted. Muting a category only changes the setting on that category, but switches the control from "mute channel" to "unmute channel" -- and hides all messages from channels that are in the default state in that category.

i agree with OP. mute category would be great if it would mute all channels within the category and still allow us to unmute an individual channel without having to unmute the category.
I suggest muting all (server, category, channel) be a toggle state on/off so then we would be able to select categories or channels individually to unmute.

FFS PLEASE Implement this. The ability to filter what you want to view is a NIGHTMARE right now.
