Screen sharing blurry
Whenever I share my screen, it gets blurry in random time. Sometimes it’s fine for 10 minutes, sometimes after a couple of minutes it gets blurry. (But it gets blurry for sure.)
The worst things are that I can’t predict when will my screen look bad so I feel uncomfortable while sharing. And I can’t know whether my screen looks fine or not without participants’ words.
I’m using AMD Ryzen™ 5 PRO 4650G.
In my opinion, shortage of VRAM might be a cause.
Running multiple programs uses lots of VRAM. In general, VRAM should be swapped with RAM, but for some reason they aren’t working properly.
Counterexample)
1. Screen sharing in Zoom didn’t cause any blurry issues.
2. Before I use 4650G, I used Intel® Core™ i5-4210M which is mobile APU.
It only has 128MB of VRAM but has never caused any blurry issues in discord and Zoom.
I saw lots of Ryzen users having similar symptoms.
Hope this problem to be fixed soon. Thank you.

If it's not your connection then it's Discord's fault

Same problem here.
Got a rizen 5 5600x with a Radeon RX590 and 32GB Ram.
Internet is via fiber optic, 50M down 10M up and works fine.
Zoom screen share works perfectly.

I submitted a bug report to Discord on March 11.
I exchanged several mails with a customer service representative. (I don’t know whether she’s a real CS representative. It’s my guess. She didn’t seem like a developer.) And I got a mail that recommends me to change some settings. Note that below settings may not be correct because I got a mail in Korean then I translated it into English.[Voice & Video]
-H.264 Hardware Acceleration
-Use our latest technology to capture your screen
[Advanced]
-Hardware AccelerationJust only turning off “H.264 Hardware Acceleration” helped me preventing my screen gets pixelated.
But as a side effect, I experienced frame drops. (Not my PC, just on screen sharing.)
If you don’t share dynamic screens like gaming, I think it’ll be helpful to apply above settings. Until discord team fixes it.2 -
I used the streaming feature very frequently in the past and the last couple of weeks/months it was barely even useable.
My PC + Internetconnection both are more than enough and still my streams look like 30 pixels with 5 fps... Thats only in FPS games or other types of genres where the "pictures" change alot.
Changing settings like:
[Voice & Video]
-H.264 Hardware Acceleration
-Use our latest technology to capture your screen
[Advanced]
-Hardware Accelerationdidnt help at all.
Made me cancel my Nitro subscription ¯\_(ツ)_/¯0 -
@불꽃, turning off “H.264 Hardware Acceleration” helped me too.
I use it mostly for work so It's not critical for me to have some framedrops.
thx
