Sender deleted their DMs but they are also deleted from my account?

This sender Alec#0658 is a scammer. I unfortunately invested in his fund and then he blocked me off. I am about to file a cyber crime report as I have all his information (name, location, phone number, family details) however, I just noticed that he was able to delete all messages he sent to me.

How can someone delete their messages sent to me like months ago?

  It's called a self-bot, against the ToS but often very effective at this kind of stuff.
