New API is inaccessible and widely hated.
Many users across multiple sites have stated why this API update is horrible. It was unnecessary, for one, since it worked smoothly and made sense in comparison to the desktop version. It's also much more difficult to navigate now, seeing as it's much harder to find something as simple as who is online in a server.
The fact that it cannot be changed as well is inherently inaccessible, especially to autistic users, who need not only a choice, but warning to changes. This change was forced for many people, including myself.
Most people don't check the support page unless something is wrong. And clearly, since it was only announced here that there would be a change and nowhere else, Discord assumed that everyone would check. But we don't check it, and the users weren't given any notice or a choice. As per the new standard for Discord, which the users have had issues with for awhile now. We can't even change back to the other layout, which was far more intuitive and well-loved by your long time users such as myself.
My solutions are this:
Swap back entirely, give a new update with a link to a discord-wide poll about the issue, or make it an accessibility or appearance toggle in the settings menu. I would suggest the third option, because then everyone gets to make their own decisions about it. And considering that it was a toggle option previously, it wouldn't be difficult to maintain now, either.
Implementation of unwanted and hated changes without warning or a shred of approval from users is a fast way to lose support, Discord. We're already boycotting many things, we can always switch platforms and boycott yours.
Edit: There are also a lot of bugs, and others talking about how nothing is moving smoothly as well as making replies and threads on accident. Anything ranging from emojis, to colored roles, to whole pages glitching out and/or vanishing are glitched. What's the point in an update that is completely broken?

As someone on the Autistic Spectrum, I wholeheartedly approve this post and agree with everything mentioned. The update was invasive and inconsiderate of my needs and views as a Discord Nitro subscriber and server booster.
There is a blatant lack of communication on Discord's part. A poll would be a great idea, albeit unnecessary, they already know there would be an overwhelming preference for the previous version of Discord but perhaps that's why they won't go along with. They really want to convince themselves this was a good idea before their Holiday break and all will be forgiven.
Mark my words; this will serve as the catalyst for the beginning of the end of Discord as a service.

In the midst of discussions, branded pens conveyed a stark message: "New API is inaccessible and widely hated." Across digital forums, frustration simmered among users encountering difficulties with the revamped API. The sentiment echoed throughout developer circles, highlighting concerns about usability and functionality. As debates raged on, the branded pens served as tangible reminders of the community's discontent, urging for solutions to address the widespread dissatisfaction and restore accessibility to essential tools.

Revert the changes completely, provide a new update with a link to a Discord-wide poll on the issue, or make it a toggle option in the settings menu for accessibility or appearance. I recommend the third option, as it allows everyone to make their own choice. Given that it was previously a toggle option, maintaining it shouldn't be difficult.
