If you won't rollback the UI, revise your stance on third-party clients

So like. I play a game called Second Life. Hear me out. 

LL (linden labs, the creators Second Life) allow access by pre-approved third party clients (“viewers” in their lingo). This has arguably been a big driver behind why second life has lasted as long as it has, despite it's stigma, and why it has such a dedicated userbase to this day.
Most users of second life, last i checked, use a third party viewer. Where LL doesn't work on something, so long as it's within TOS, typically a third party viewer does. And it all exists within the same platform. As a result, Second Life is celebrating 20 years in service these days. Anything that's a feature of SL is standard, but often free to be expanded on as per that viewers typical user's needs.

 

I think a similar approach to the gaming-focused community of Discord could offer long-term longevity, a similar level of dedication, and satisfy all ends of the userbase, if only discord provided guidelines and allowed access by third party clients in a similar way. If Vencord were simply Allowed it would be the best thing to ever happen to Discord, imo. It would only make the platform that much more versatile. 

All Second Life is is a glorified chat platform. I sincerely think if it wanted to and cared about it's future, Discord could last in a similar way. The UI I've played on the for past 10 years was made by people who preferred an “old” layout to the modern UI and wished it to work within modern Second Life standards, and it's brilliant.

    Although I know nothing of SL or anything involving that, I agree with this. It would make people much happier to be able to just have a choice, in one way or another, and to have control over something rather than what's happening now.

    It is absolutely mind-boggling how they will feign caring about community feedback and user assessibility while actively sabotaging any attempts for us to use Discord in a way that makes the most sense for us. Even depriving us of the option to use Discord prior to this update. They really don't care, do they?
