Why does the button for opening the emoji panel show a different style of emoji then the rest of the app?

I reported this as an issue and they said that it is a intended feature, but it's really weird having a different appearance of emoji in a single part of the app.

  The preview emoji's are very cute, It would be amazing if we could use them in chat!
