Feature request: Get notified when friend or person you are messaging in DM changes username/displayed name
This is a report of my private feature request, since I'm not sure which one is more efficient, a private FR or a public one people can vote on (and when I send a private FR Discord tells me to open a new public post anyway…).
I found myself losing track of some people I interacted with when they changed names (generally username + display name + avatar, making it very hard to spot them in my DM list with just a peek).
It would be nice if we got notified when users changed username (I didn't even know it was possible!), display name (because it's the one we peek at), and more optionally avatar (which is nice to know about as in WhatsApp, but not searchable via text).
Username alone would allow us to search a person precisely via Ctrl+K quick search, and the thing we expect to change the least, so it's the most critical.
There could be options to each level of notification:
Whose info change sends you a notification:
- my friends
- people I have an open DM chat with (ie there is an open chat in my DM list)
- both
What triggers a notification:
- change of username
- change of display name
- change of avatar
- a combination of 2 or 3 of them
The notification could stay in a permanent list so you can always check the history of who changed names later if needed.

This would be less of an issue if we could search through all our DMs as requested here:

but we cannot, so it's difficult to find a specific conversation that would identify the person and therefore bypass the need to know their new username.
Ideally, both would be implemented to make it very easy to find anyone for whom you remember either the old username, of what you talked about.
