Could Discord Implement a Feature to Toggle the Visibility of Online Status?
I hope you’re doing well. I wanted to suggest an enhancement that could improve user privacy and control: a feature that allows users to toggle the visibility of their online status.
Currently, our online status is visible to everyone in our friend list and server members. While this transparency is beneficial in many situations, there are times when users might prefer to manage their visibility more selectively. For example:
- Privacy Concerns: Some users might want to appear offline to maintain privacy, especially if they are working or simply need some personal space.
- Focus and Productivity: Users who are in a work or study environment might prefer to appear offline to avoid distractions without having to log out or use "Do Not Disturb" modes.
- Security: Providing an option to hide one’s online status could add an extra layer of security for users who might want to avoid being tracked or monitored.
This feature could be implemented as a simple toggle option in the user settings, allowing users to choose whether their online status is visible to others or not.
I believe this addition would significantly enhance the user experience and offer greater flexibility in managing our presence on Discord. Thank you for considering this suggestion!

You can already do this. You can set your visibility to online, away, do not disturb, or offline (hidden/invisible).
