Blocking needs to actually block someone

In my opinion, blocking on Discord works as best and intended. It is in all other social media that is terrible, some of them (like Meta) try to make you believe that the account that has blocked you has never existed and makes incredibly difficult the task of just accessing old messages. In Discord blocking has the effect of making the blocked one impossible to disturb you, as it can't contact you per dm. In a common server the decision of censoring or muting a user corresponds to the administration of the server, and you should be able to communicate your problems with the user to them, so they can then ban that user or decide.
Of course you can't stop him from seeing and replying to your comments, since he has the same access as you and you are still existing (so ofc he can see you), but since it is a blocked user it shouldn't bother you.

And there is a fundamental difference in how posting in a open web like in Meta or Twitter works, compared to server channels in Discord: they are truly public.

To address this, you might consider:

    1. Muting the user: While this won’t stop them from seeing your posts, it will reduce how often you notice their replies.
    2. Speak to a server admin/moderator: If their behavior is toxic, server admins can take steps, such as restricting their ability to interact with you directly.
    3. Leave or switch servers: If their presence is affecting your experience, switching to another server or community might be a solution.

Discord's block feature is designed differently, and if you feel this is a serious issue, you might want to submit feedback to Discord regarding changes to the blocking feature.

I would welcome the addition of blocking totally blocking, i.e. you would not even see that the blocked person typed something in the chat.
