Needs to be a thing for sure gamers, roleplayers and so many others need this. Just imagine in a game group that you need to be recognizable fast so by icon in and your stuffy place of work tells you your expected to be in the discord for conference calls or the project updates. Now your stuck choosing between enjoying useing discord for your games or your job!

1.I agree with this.As a Staff member on some servers I'd rather my profile fit the theme of those servers.And all the other reasons - gaming,chit chat and roleplaying communities all piled up together.
2.No,don't make this a paid feature. I've heard comments suggesting this.I get that - yes -someone has to store all those files but- essentially taking away a quite essential feature for almost every user is very cheap and scummy.I'd propose limit this to say a few avatars for users and - if you really wanna milk some money - make it so that you gotta pay up for the limit to be a bigger number. Not everyone has acces to a credit card - dang it - chill out.

Death Gun's compromise is pretty solid. Make it so everyone has it available but make a pay element for those who want more. I'm good with that or making it for Nitro boosted servers so Discord gets some money without making the whole community pay to get the feature.

I really doubt storage is the issue. One of my friends has an avatar that's a picture, which is only 31 KB. The size limit on pictures we upload into chat is 8 MB, and I don't think there's really a limit on the number of those we can upload.
I would guess most, if not all, pictures I've uploaded each take up more space than all the avatars I would use.

This is just evident that devs don't care what the users want. It is heavily requested, wouldn't hurt the users that don't want it, yet 1 year later, nada. I have to wonder if this actually even reaches the devs or just the tech support people.

Its funny, this is now how old... and Discord DevTeam who claims to care for their users... just don't do it!

Can we get an update on if the devs have seen this? I wanted my avatar to be a political figure for one server, but another server threatened to ban me if I didn't change it. This feature is necessary.

Similar story here Hopper, except I lost all my perms and was banned from one server for an avatar that was for the benefit of another server. This feature needs to exist.

Paramount: Oh, people hate the Sonic design we made? Let's redo the whole thing and put months of extra work, pay, resources etc into this, to give the people what they want!
Discord: Oh, so our users want a basic feature like changing their avatar on each server? No, I don't think we will.

Yes please! I love my general display picture, but I'd love to be able to switch my avatar for my FFXIV character's face when on FFXIV discord servers, etc.

Hey guys, they clearly don't give af about our messages here. Make sure you @ them on twitter/social media. Open up a support ticket to get updates, etc.

I wish they'd at least address if this is possible or not. A lot of people are requesting it, so the silence isn't doing them any favors.
