Avatars by server

I didn't see this anywhere but I am part of several RP pages on Discord and it would be nice to be able to have a custom avatar per server. You can change your name on a server but not your avatar. People tend to recognize people by their character, and being able to show each character on each server would be nice.

    This is obviously something most of the Discord user community here (and oh so many on Reddit and other places that don't know of this forum) really wants.

    Hopefully a dev will see this one day.

    I’m multiple, so considering on some servers we need to change our pick to match whos talking, but others we act as one not to draw attention from other so yeah, like this would be crazy helpful.

    Yes, we appreciate it would probably not work for PMs between people who share servers. It would just be the user list in channels. AND THAT'S FINE.

    Heck even if "just show default portrait on this server" were an option, that would likely get us to subscribe.

    I don’t know if there’s any updates on this or not, but I get an hourly email notification that someone new has added their voice to the chorus. Everybody wants this!

    Would love to see this happen, for the same reason as others, because i'm in multiple different groups that feel weird sharing one avatar picture.

    I understand why it would be good but how would you know if someone with A picture and X nickname is or isn't the same account as the user with B picture and Y nickname without having to click on them?

    I'd love to display a sample of a piece of art I made on a fractal server I'm active in, and then have the ability to switch between my current sword-and-shield profile picture and the other one.

     

    I really don't think you guys "don't have time", it can't be difficult as you've already got some code for it in the form of server-specific usernames, a feature that was heavily requested and then subsequently added.

    I guess all I'm saying is that the community should add their voice to this thread as much as possible, tweet at Discord, and contact them through other means.

    WAUthethird, I think they don't have the code to do it. Yes it would be good but I already explained why they haven't done it. The reason server-specific nicknames work is because the profile picture is shared between servers and so if you are in two servers someone else is in, and they have two nicknames, you'll know they're the same person via their profile picture.

     

    But how would that be possible with profile pictures? If someone has a server-specific username and profile picture in two different servers, how would you know they're the same person without checking their profile. In fact, if lots of people had this, then how.would you know if anyone is familiar from another server? You could meet someone on discord, they invite you to a server, and because of their server-specific name and picture, you spend ages trying to find them.

    Or you could do what normal people do and either PM them or hit “Mutual Servers” and say, well I’ll be goll-darned, it’s so-and-so.

    If this was a Nitro thing I would get it in a heartbeat

    Even if it's only something like 'You can only upload 3/5/whatever' and pick from them which server you want I would love it.

    I agree with Ifrit in the sense that I would even go as far as to subscribe for this feature. 

    I have personal, professional and roleplay Discords, and I'd like to be able to maintain different levels of personality/professionalism with my icon.

    I wanted to change my profile picture to my crush's face, but I'm currently hiding said crush's face because my family will find out what my crush's face looks like and I won't hear the end of it. I need this to also mess with some friends, it'll be fun.
