Ban user by ID from server

I think to go further than this; being able to ban someone who has never JOINED your discord by Client Information; i.e., you see someone being a terrible human being in another discord; and you're just like "Gosh I really dont want them to ever be in MY discord" so you just ban them that way too; I 100% support this!

I get that "a bot can do that" but bots are external, so there's no OFFICIAL way to do this (Plus, finding the right bot can be a hassle sometimes.)

Apparently there's a way to do this in developer mode, but banning someone that isn't in your server shouldn't be this complicated.

I just believe that this would save time and make life easier for server owners.

You can mention them using their user ID with this format:

<@their_id>, right click > ban as usual.

If you don't know how to get user IDs, please read this: https://support.discordapp.com/hc/en-us/articles/206346498-Where-can-I-find-my-User-Server-Message-ID-

    You can do this
Put the ID between brackets like this
    <6238123654118>
    then right click and ban.

    Sounds very reasonable!

Some have already said this but here to make it clear again, this already is a feature but it's a bit complicated.
Basically, you have to get the "Discord ID" of that certain user you want to ban, then simply fill this in <@IDOfUser>
That could look like this: <@155149108183695360>

This only works on PC, though!!

It's basically the same. I don't know if Discord keeps a record of who has ever joined your Server (you could check back names of welcome messages..) but the idea is the same. Joined or not, the user doesn't exist in the server and you want to keep it that way! xD

I just banned some raiders that arrived, messed about in voice chat, and left. If you have a welcome channel, find their welcome message and right click it. Even if they're gone, you get the "ban user" option. If you don't want a public welcome, just set the welcome message to go to a channel that only mods can see.

I agree, this would be VERY useful.

It would be useful if the built in method was available on mobile, even if it exists

You can ban the user if you have the ID, and if you have *seen* that user ANYWHERE.
This is important because Discord doesn't automatically fetch/cache the info of an user when you use this ping, but bots can do it automatically.

How do you do that? Easy:
Just type this into any chat: <@[id of the user goes here]>

    Example: <@235088799074484224>
(This ID belongs to the Rythm#3722 bot)

This way, you will have a ping you can right-click, on any server.

I use it all the time, and is a very important tool for me.
Without this, I would be almost incapable of moderating.

A suggestion: have all the "welcome" messages go to a room that only you have access to, so you can always cache any user that you need, even if they leave the server.

This was suggested by Ronin but he didn't went as far as he should, when explaining. Consider this an improvement over his comment.

I really like this idea! If you've banned someone in one server you own, then likely you don't want them in your other owned servers for probably the same reasons. I think if this list were viewable outside servers (maybe alongside the blocked user list?) and given an option to make notes on each banned user, this could be a very useful tool for anyone that owns multiple servers.

although, as a few people have mentioned, it's already possible to retroactively ban IDs via a few methods (finding their welcome message, mentioning them by <@ID>, using a bot, etc.), I also feel this would be a very simple thing for them to implement. They already have a UI in place for managing bans, so they could just add some sort of selector at the top to enable this. Kind of makes me wonder why it's not already a thing....

However the feature of hackbanning via mentioning their ids to the server you want them to be banned is gone. I think i need to get the best bot to secure my server a lot more

Can someone make a bot that is like "forever: if user id=***than ban"

That's true, it would be really useful. Like it would be nice having a + button in your guild settings > bans, then you just got to enter his name and discrimnator, or user ID. If you really need to do this currently, several bots enable you to do that thanks to a command like ban UserID (reason). On desktop, there's another trick of sending the mention of a user in a channel (), right clicking on it, and -> Ban User. Hope this can help you 😃

Yeah I agree, that's true that this is a bit annoying of not knowing all the alt accounts someone can have, even if his main account is already banned from the guild.

I think this would be a really cool feature! One flaw may be that people could ban people for no reason and it would transfer over to other servers though. To fix this, maybe add a feature where it does not transfer automatically, but instead, the transfer has to be initiated manually just in case they make a mistake.
