Responding to specific messages

I would like to suggest a feature where one might be able to "quote" or "point to" a specific message in chat that one is responding to. Perhaps something similar to how Whatsapp does it, or for an even simpler version, how image boards can have messages link to other messages they are responding to.

  I think that being able to quote someone in your message would probably eat up the character limit per-message, but if quotations were ever implemented, I'd like the idea of being able to click the quoted part and jump to that message in the channel.
