discord in uae
did discord got banned in the United Arab Emirates, because we cant use discord anymore we need to provide a VPN which is bad and disconnect us sometimes and affects our gameplay can you please fix it or at least tell us what happened thanks.

it did not get banned i use it finely only thing that is laggy is the calls really they just need to make a dubai server which i emailed them about they said theyll be right on it

i think it is banned, i use the client and voice chat is as OP says.
using the browser works, so it must be a TRA thing.

it doesnt work at all for me, i use etisalat and the client doesnt work at all, really choppy and roboty.
the browser works and is usable but ping is not good.

Btw guys, they just banned browser too, I think it may be everythging. Sooooooooo that sucks, now if u want to talk then u need to geta vpn.

Discord is banned because it's not licensed in UAE yet. Fortunately the web browser works, atleast for me. If you’re unhappy about the ban, you’re in luck, as a Virtual Private Network (VPN) can help. Skype is licensed and therefore not affected by the regulations.

Most VPN's should have something called 'Split-Tunneling' basically it means you can choose which programs should use the vpn and which all not to, so I only allow Discord to use VPN, while the rest all no, this is also a great feature cuz I wont get any disconnecting problems in any games or etc! I use protonvpn btw!

I think discord has to buys some sort of permit to be allowed its just another way for the Sheikhs (Like a president but also a king) to get more money i guess.

Well UAE banned all of the apps including discord, due to VoIP, however, discord now works in browser not in apps for some reason why is that?

The discord browser was working until 2-3 weeks ago i started facing some issues. When ever i join a vc in a server/private call/group dms it shows rtc disconnected and also i cant hear them anymore as well :/
I hope discord gets unbanned in 2022.

Right so I think discord is completely banned in UAE and they blocked it recently. I had spoken with the discord support for a month and they couldn't find the solution with the issue of the above comment which I faced too (another support agent replied that it's banned recently by TRA or etisalat).
RIP discord in UAE. Whenever I started discord on chrome it took like 30 mins to load everything. Now I gotta text on my phone and only there ;(
im gonna miss getting on voice channels ;(((

im honestly fed up with the general ban of voip in uae. Even in late 2024 it is still blocked and unusable without a vpn. The telecom providers probably blocked discord along with other voip because of loss in revenue. but discord calling isnt a type of call where u would start the call and end it within a few minutes, it is mostly used for calls that will last hours and still they dont understand and still ban discord. Discord has to be licensed in order for its vc features to work. all the other unbanned voip in uae suck, and im really looking forward towards discord working in uae.
