Linux - Screen Share Sound Support
With Screen Sharing sound already supported on Windows, I would like Screen Sharing to be supported for Discord on Linux as well.
Gaming on Linux exists and does relatively well despite what many naysayers think or wish to believe and having this support for users such as myself would make this less frustrating.
(Not to mention that we're not even mentioned in the supported platforms art along with the other logos at the bottom of the site's webpages...)

Kraüs well no, but in a way yes.
The Arch package is maintained by volunteers (Trusted Users of the Arch community), using already compiled binaries. The Arch package uses the .tar.gz you can download on the Discord website (along with a .deb). These are obviously given by Discord employees.

With the upcoming Steam Deck, you're gonna have a lot of angry Linux noobs wondering why their shiny new toy doesn't "just work." And that's not good. You need to fix this NOW before it comes out.

I only just learned about this because I figured out a cool thing I could do when running Dungeons & Dragons games. And I was troubleshooting this for hours until I found out I just can't do it on Linux.
This is so incredibly frustrating.

I can't believe a communication platform offering videocalls cannot simply add such an important 'feature'.

Absolutely. New technologies like Wayland and its APIs make it easier than ever before to do so. It'll be a significant boost to the discord user base.

having functionality natively, without me manually having to bridge application sounds to my mic while i stream, would be nice. it's my windoze using friends whomst are frusturated since they're the receving end of my botched job of audio bridging. if you don't care about linux at all, you probably care about windoze ppl so fixing this issue helps windozers more than linux ppl, at least in my case. and, no. i cannot switch over to windoze over such a trivial issue. i have my terabytes of games on ext4 partitioned disks and my workflow established on linux. thx.

From what I understand all they need to do is update the version of electron/chromium the client ships with.

This is a shame with the Steam Deck around the corner, lol

Please enable sound support for screen sharing from linux, especially since the Steam Deck is coming, people are going to miss out on being able to share their gameplay with their friends from their portable PC.
