Linux - Screen Share Sound Support
With Screen Sharing sound already supported on Windows, I would like Screen Sharing to be supported for Discord on Linux as well.
Gaming on Linux exists and does relatively well despite what many naysayers think or wish to believe and having this support for users such as myself would make this less frustrating.
(Not to mention that we're not even mentioned in the supported platforms art along with the other logos at the bottom of the site's webpages...)

I agree. Gaming on Linux is very important to support now.

I would really like to see this fixed soon, it is kinda getting annoying when i want to show someone something but they cant hear it :(

Gaming on linux is a real thing, I'm using Linux as a daily driver and I love discord. But I hate it when people say things like "linux is crap" "linux is not as good as windows" and then I try to clarify that this might not be the case, but when I want to stream a single monitor or a windows with sound, I can't do that.
I would really love to see this feature on Linux because it is very powerful and there are so many things you can do with it.57 -
I agree.
It's kinda frustrating have to boot to windows whenever I want to share my gameplay or anything else.56 -
Sadly, Discord doesn't even support streaming a Chrome browser tab an Linux. Neither does it on Windows afaik. Other websites like Jitsi support it.
It may work in the future, if they decide to update the Electron version Discord is using and update their webapp (I'm not sure about that).

This is one of the biggest reasons I'm still using Windows. God, please fix so I can just move to Arch full-time.

2021 and screen-share and wayland with issues ? c'mon !
40 -
YES PLEASE

Well, Mac has it now and it doesn't support even a fraction of games that linux does. Would be nice to have this feature here as well, especially since Pipewire is a thing and can help with porting the functionality.

Just upvote this post please. Spamming +1 is counter-productive and makes reading this thread more complex.

These days I'm quite sure gaming on Linux is more common then mac. But Linux still never receive things before mac

It's 2021 and I found out on this thread that it's even supported on macOS.
So please, Discord developers & others involved in this >>> please allow your user base to grow.

The Steam Deck will be using the Linux Discord client. Unless Discord finally fixes this issue, I can foresee most Steam Deck users shifting to using Steam's built in solutions over Discord.
Please fix this issue, Discord devs, us penguins would really appreciate it. Electron even supports this feature in Linux now, you guys would just need to update to the latest version!

Please, sound in screen sharing on Linux is really needed

I would also really appreciate if this would be supported.

Yes please!!

This would be a very needed fix for us linux users

Now that Steam Deck (and SteamOS 3.0) will soon be a thing, really wish Discord will use this motivation to add that feature in (along with Discord overlay)

With the upcoming Steam Deck, you're gonna have a lot of angry Linux noobs wondering why their shiny new toy doesn't "just work." And that's not good. You need to fix this NOW before it comes out.

Manjaro and Linux Mint user here. I actually came here to suggest exactly this. Happy to see it's so highly voted, this is absolutely a feature we need on Discord for Linux. It's a fantastic feature on the Windows version, I use it all the time to watch youtube videos with friends or play quiplash & other jackbox games remotely. I started using Linux as my main OS a little while back, and this is the Discord feature I miss the most, would love to see this functionality added to the Linux version.
Edit:
Discord. Buddy. It's been years since you practically even acknowledged that Linux users exist. This is one of the most highly voted issues. Fix it already. With Steam Deck expected to hit the shelves in about 3 months, you guys need to get on this soon, or I can practically guarantee that Discord won't be the chat client of choice for Steam Deck and SteamOS users.

+1, this post is currently the #1 request in the voice and video category, even a small acknowledgement would be preferable to what appears to be a complete disregard for linux support. At this point, if a third party comes along with an adhoc screensharing suite that I can send out to friends, I'll just ditch nitro and pay for that.

It's almost the end of 2021, and y'all still not figured this out? Not only that, but screen sharing on Wayland doesn't work at all.
Seriously discord?

I canceled Nitro because this feature is missing. This would be easy to implement, and it feels like a big dismissal of our community to leave it out for so long. Your app is not fully featured without this. Make it right.

This has been broken for as long as I can remember, and is in desperate need for a fix. Please for the love of everything look into restoring this functionality. Pipewire is a good solution that works with other Electron apps, and is included with a lot of Linux distros. It shouldn't be all too difficult to find a solution using Pipewire and modern Electron versions.
With the release of the Steam Deck coming soon (which runs on Linux), I feel this is especially important to look into.

The most unfortunate thing is that there are no alternatives whatsoever! If anyone has one please let me know. I really don't want to install windows even as a dual boot.
12 -
please Discord... We have the technology!
12 -
caracal There is a workaround with Soundux I already mentioned above

It's 2021 linux gaming is a thing, get with the times Discord.
