A Case for the Revertion to the Quote System
Salutations and good day/night,
The new reply system which only shows up in several servers, particularly that of generally big servers from what the writer can tell, is either too new and/or too sudden to be implemented en masse. The main problem the writer has is that,
1.) The reply doesn't highlight the user's username unless manually written by the replier. Which, admittedly, is a loss if a general chat of a server was particularly full and an event was to be held in said chat.
2.) The writer feels that the new replying system is 'out of place' with what Discord had originally used, which is the quoting system.
3.) The writer also feels that it is rather confusing to read the numerous amount of replies (which only highlights several pieces of a message), thus any long-winded discussion will require constant back-and-forth just to actually reply to a single message.
4.) The writer feels that moderation with the usage of the reply system is more difficult and is slower, as an enforcement of a server's rules could no longer be more rigorous in a short amount of time.
However, it would be dishonest to not mention some of the improvement to the replying system itself, as it is extremely helpful when replying towards a picture or any media that wouldn't otherwise be possible with the quoting system. Instead of completely disbanding this new feature, one might be able to reply with the instant reply button that shows up in a highlighted message but still keep the quoting system by pressing the three-dotted pop up menu to quote as usual.
In conclusion, the writer humbly requests for a reversal from the replying system back to the quoting system, or at least simultaneously, keep the quote feature in place.
Thank you for your attention, have a great day/night.
