Better UX for non-technical users
Say I have a non-technical friend and we want to talk to each other over voice chat, but I want to use my computer and he is from his smartphone.
As of today, if I want to use Discord, it'll be tough for him: he has to download the Discord app, create an account, and then I need to create a server just for the two of us. And remember, since he is not a technical guy, I will have to explain to him step-by-step
Now imagine this scenario but in a WhatsApp group of non-technical users. It will be a nightmare and we will most likely end up talking using the WhatsApp app (as WhatsApp Desktop doesn't allow voice chat yet).
Instead, what the Discord team can do is allow the desktop browser functionality on a mobile browser as well.

You can directly call each other on Discord. Press or click the call button in your DMs.

But to get to Discord, they first have to download the Discord app, which they may or may not understand how without me standing next to them
Thus, IMO it's better to have the basic Discord functionality available straight from the mobile browser, similarly that it's available through a desktop browser, and only if needed, they will register to Discord0
