Adding a Ban user feature by having their discord ID but they are no longer in the server
It seems like people have been requesting this feature for a couple of years now, and yeah, it would be really nice to be able to add names to the ban list with peoples discord ID and not actually having them in the server to do so.
I want everyone to be able to add people to the server with the exception of banned ID's. I had a person who left the server, unfriended and blocked me, then re friended me to ask me to let them back in the server to get something they posted, I now want to get them on the ban list so they don't find a way back in but all I have is their discord ID and I can't do anything with it sadly. PLEASE fix to add bans using ID's in servers!
Thank you guys for your time and all your hard work.

You can do this with a bot, or if you have them in your client cache, by mentioning them.

Yes but it would be nice if it was part of the app to add bans through user ID’s because I, like many others, am not computer savvy and don’t use bots. Discord needs to be simple for the simple minded :)

A work around is not the solution

I'd argue a majority of Discord users do not, and will not ever know what an id is. Especially considering this requires turning on developer mode in the settings.

I'd recommend just adding an existing bot to your guild and go from there. Bots are handy and useful. If you find a good one you can make this the only thing it would do (if a multipurpose bot).

By ID I mean there user name, tag example go into server bans and add HawtPawketz_#1740
I appreciate you guys trying to give me other ways to do this but the whole point of me starting this post is to try to convince Discord to add this feature to make the app more user friendly!

Perhaps if this isn't possible because people can change their name...but if they don't change it at that time, to have an easier way to find their ID code. I'm sure the smart tech people can figure something out

This suggestion is unnecessary. You can already do this with several bots, such as https://dyno.gg. Simply add to server and use command "?ban useridhere".

Thanks William for your unnecessary opinion.

That's not an id. That's a tag. Usernames and discriminators can change very easily, so this is virtually impossible.

To fix this, maybe add a feature where it does not transfer automatically, but instead, the transfer has to be initiated manually just in case they make a mistake.

There's a way to do this without moderation bots if you have the id:
type in (with angled brackets) <@![id]> after you hit space, it should turn into a mention of the person you want to ban.
Send the message, then right click the mention and ban the user.-1 -
Why do you need to make tag unique? It defeats the purpose and everyone on discord has already an uniqe id which is very easy to get.

There's something called a hackban, which many bots use to ban ids.
