Seeing who read a message.

When hovering over a message, like how the more actions and react button pop up when you mouse over the message, another button that opens a menu similar to the reactions button that allows you to see who read the message. This allows you to view profiles, or check how many people read that message during giveaways, or simply to prevent pinging someone. It can also prevent reaction spamming on a message.

    I just posted this response in a thread earlier:

    "You mean the "read" notifications when the recipient sees it to confirm they've seen it? I don't particularly care for it. In fact, I'd rather it wasn't added as it'll only encourage needy people to pester for a response immediately. I'll answer in my own damn time."

    Still sticking to it. The only exception I'd make to support the idea is if I alone have the option to hide whether or not Discord knows I've seen a message. That would only undermine your use-case, though.

    In your specific case, there is a way to control emoji use. It's not perfect, but it'd stop random emoji spam:

    1. Either a non-participant or a bot adds the emoji you want to the message;
    2. The channel hosting this message should disallow Add Reactions and Add External Emoji.

    Users who don't have permission to Add Reactions will be able to react using the reactions that are already there, but they won't be able to add more emoji.
