Mid-conversations updates

Discord people, I love what you're doing, and you really rock. But about 2 weeks ago you introduced a new way to update Discord, where the whole interface goes blank all of a sudden, mid-conversation. Can you please please please stop that? It's extremely jarring, and actually kinda sucky from a UX point of view...

This is the first time I post here because until now (i.e. in about 3 years), you've always fixed whatever foibles I had, and/or added more awesomesauce.  But this thing, this thing is... Not Good™
