I have a problem and/or suggestion concerning the Level 3 server boost Vanity URL feature. It's super nice to have, and definitely a perk excited about unlocking. However, it's a bit problematic the way it's currently set up.
I'm currently on a server that recently hit 30 boosts and unlocked it, so we started using the vanity URL and swapping all of our links on our websites to use it. The problem we're having, though, is that the split second we go to 29 boosts (which we have little control over, as it's community based), all the links immediately stop working. We will go to sleep, and wake up to lots of people reporting the invite links don't work.
This has brought us to a vicious cycle, though. We want our URL to be stable, so we purchase 2-3 boosts to get us to say, 33. This gives us some buffer room so that a single boost removal doesn't break our URL. However, this also sends a signal to community members that we're over our 30 target, and 3 boosts aren't needed and can be moved elsewhere. They end up moving the boosts to other servers that need them, and suddenly we're back at 30 in the danger zone. We purchase more to give buffer, and then people remove more to bring it back to 30. We're essentially slowly transferring all our community boosts that got us to 30 into direct boosts we bought ourselves. All the while having sporadic scares where our URL goes down.
This is very jarring experience. I think there needs to be some sort of URL safety cooldown. If we get 30 boosts and gain access to a vanity URL, it should be stable for a good decent while, even if we dip below to 29 boosts for a short blip. Otherwise, this vanity URL is near useless for servers that are medium size and hovering around the 30 boost zone, due to its unreliability.
