Discord closes itself on PopOS (an Ubuntu based Linux Distro)
Hi,
the Discord App is closing itself every 10 min or so. It is pretty annoying!
To solve this issue I made a fresh installation of PopOS and it happend again.
Do you have any suggestions to solve this issue? (and switching to Windows for coding is not an option 😜
Thanks for advise!

Did you try going in settings and doing this:
Voice & Video - For INPUT SENSITIVITY and disable "Automatically determine input sensitivity." (set it yourself)
"OpenH264 Video Codec provided by Cisco System, Inc." (disable)
"H.246 Hardware Acceleration" (disable)
"Enable Quality of Service High Packet Priority" (disabled)
Notifications - "Enable Desktop Notifications" (disable)
"Enable Unread Message Badge"(disable)
Game Activity - (have this disabled at all times)
Streamer Mode - "Enable Streamer Mode" (disable)
"Automatically Enable/Disable" (disable)
"Disable Notifications" (disable)
This might help.

I do also have this Problem on LinuxMint and have tried the settings mentioned above. It didn't help, but thank you for giving the information :D.
I installed Discord over flatpak and before a crash I got this error on the console:
Failed to generate minidump.[1661:227] [92] (device_info_linux.cc:40): NumberOfDevices
[fake-sandbox: zypak-sandbox] No data could be read (host died?)
[fake-sandbox: zypak-sandbox] Quitting Zygote...As there are no other messages like this in the log, this seems to be the cause in some way...

Hmm, really strange. In the last 10 or so days that I've been having this problem I have not seen anything like this in my console.Having to try Flatpaks app, DiscordPTB and DiscordCanary they would all give me same :
Failed to get crash dump id.
Report Id:
Segmentation faultWhat seems to have fixed it for me was the previous settings i just posted. Thanks to Bongo for stumbling on this solution all credits go to him.
As of your problem I might suggest trying either your LinuxMint repo "Discord" app or trying "DiscordPTB" and "DiscordCanary" try them both out and see if the problem still exist. If yes, only thing I am left to say is to try sending email to the devs.
Hope this helps!

When I run canary or the normal release Discord freezes after some time, while voicechat still working. After a few minutes in this state it finally crashes. So the behavior is a little bit different, but it does crash eventually.
I didn't launch it through the console to see a failure message. But I will do and write to discord support. Maybe it's all the same reason but it behaves different, when run in a sandbox through flatpak.
Currently only the limited browser version grants me stability on my system...

I also have this exact issue on popOS 19.10, very annoying

Most of my friends use also a wide variety of Linux distros. I get segfaults every 2 hours up to every 2 minutes under Arch Linux. All of my friends experience the same under Ubuntu, Debian, and some other distros. The segfault is preceded by a very high CPU load and something that seems like a memory leak. The crashing itself takes a few seconds to a few minutes where discord is really laggy and closes in the end. Some times the client "recovers" and restarts itself. The client also often crashes if someone starts speaking or turns on the video.

I totally forgot to mention in my previous post about my settings one really important setting that might help you fix this:
So in your Settings:
Appearnce:
- Advance:
and disable "Hardware Acceleration" there. It will ask you to restart discord that is ok.
Try to combine everything I mentioned before + this one little detail I forgot to mention. :P
My crashes stopped after it
