Second update with new UI discriminatory against mental disabilities
I'm angry.
The May 2020 mobile UI is starting to poison my love for Discord as a whole -- starting. People have been making noise about how the new UI is horrid and they want the old UI back, myself included. The most of a response I've ever seen is Discord telling us to come here when we post on Twitter or write an app review.
I fell in love with the feature-incomplete mobile app when I saw it years ago. No way would everything fit on such a confined space, but the slide in menus blew my mind at how well they worked. That version couldn't even remember what you were typing when the screen rotated, let alone if you moved to another channel or app. The desktop version didn't even have spell check in those days (Please add spell check to Linux!).
Now, when I see the new interface with its chat in front design, I see a paradox between what happens when it gets moved left or right. It feels wrong. I feel like a bullet train that's suddenly had its tracks teleported off to the side. It hurts. It is triggering. I have meltdowns at the thought of using --no, looking at-- the new UI. And Autism isn't the only neurodiversity it messes with. I've seen ADHD and another that eludes me. I'm sure there are others that haven't spoken up. I hate to use the word "discriminatory" in the title, but I'm getting desperate for someone from Discord to at least show that they're paying attention.
I was hopeful that Discord would at least have an option to revert when I saw the new update this week. No luck. I wrote a 2 star review (I remember an overall marginally worse version). If/when Discord makes peace with the community by either reverting the change or enhancing the display options, I will gladly retract my review.
In short: the new UI's slowness bugs might get patched, but many people find it fundamentally flawed. Is anyone even there anymore?

"No luck. I wrote a 2 star review"
What will force discord to respond is not whining but getting their app to average of 2. You should have given them 1 star.
Or even flag that app on app store, this way it'll hopefully be removed from the store and certain individuals at discord will think twice next time.1 -
I laid a breakdown of my reasons, and I still respect them too much to give 1 star. The app can still do what it says in theory, but it doesn't work for me. I'm still angry, but joining radicals won't do much good. I view myself as a complainer on this topic, but not a whiner.
Of note, it looks like they are responding to reviews, but usually, they're directing people here. The way I see it, my goal is to get a human pair of eyeballs on the underlying problem: a disconnect between feedback and developers.

The paradox isn't just the UI...it's a company thinking they can suddenly treat their loyal userbase like a bunch of sheep.

I agree wholeheartedly. In fact, I've started the hashtag #NotMyPlaceToTalk. Please spread awareness of this initiative—to make Discord’s mobile app usable, fast, and accessible again. https://mobile.twitter.com/ItsSpelledHALEY/status/1278307838754844673

Guess what I found on their Twitter account! I've already filled out a survey telling them all about what I think of the mobile UI, though I forgot to mention Linux spell check...

PS: I lost enough respect to downgrade to 1 star when they linked their "It's improved" article in response to my review.1
