Why could I hear my muted friend?!

In a recent group voice/video chat, at one point I noticed that I could hear my friend, but the interface showed them as muted. I brought this up, and they confirmed they were muted, and we both were very concerned and puzzled as to how discord was transmitting sound from someone who muted themselves. This is an obvious huge privacy and security risk, and should not be able to happen under any circumstances! Is discord aware of and going to fix this bug? Maybe also warn users that private discussions may have unknowingly been broadcast, and share statistics as to how many users were potentially affected? To clarify, this chat happened a few weeks ago, so there's a chance this bug has been fixed since then, but I have no way of verifying that.
