Voice sensitivity settings don't work. At all.
I've been struggling to find a perfect mic setting in discord ever since I started using it. I've seen other posts in Reddit (from 4 years ago) that describe the problem, but no one has seemed to really understand or maybe they haven't taken the time to actually play with the sensitivity settings themselves to realize that they literally do nothing.
For comparison, I've used ventrillo, skype, and mumble all extensively and Discord is the only program that seems to have this problem. And the problem is this: Input sensitivity settings (under voice & video), whether set to Automatic or manual make absolutely no change in what is transmitted out via your mic. I can manually set the sensitivity to max (the far right of the scale at 0dB) and you can still hear every click of my keyboard in a completely quite room with the microphone (high quality desk mounted) 3 feet away. If the sound threshold that is showing on the sound scale is only hitting at approx. -80dB for a keyboard click, why is discord STILL transmitting that noise? And the same goes true for the automatic setting. I just clicked on the " Automatically determine input sensitivity" and I can still hear every single click of my keyboard as I'm typing this.
And please don't confuse the the input and output settings with the mic sensitivity and what is actually transmitted automatically with "Voice activity" checked (not push-to-talk). Reducing input volume doesn't solve this issue. It's still transmitting the same noise, only at a lower volume like everything else, including your voice. Even if the sound level isn't high enough to meet the sensitivity threshold, it's still transmitting that sound...
This has apparently been a problem with Discord for a long time and no one appears to have addressed this issue. All the gamers I play with have gotten used to "that's just the way Discord is..." and we usually just deal with it. But that shouldn't be the solution. Especially since its seems only Discord has this problem.
If someone has a way to overcome this problem, I'm open to suggestions(if there is a way). I've tried turning on the beta noise suppression option and that does help, but it also make your outgoing voice fairly choppy.

Atm I'm experiencing an issue where suddenly my mic sensitivity is bad and I haven't done anything to my settings. I can't even tap my mouse without it getting picked up. Doesn't matter if the sensitivity is on either side of the bar every little breathe and tap of the finger is getting picked up.

Arocken, I have the same experience exactly as you described. Adjusting the input sensitivity level does not make a difference in what background noise is picked up. It is as if toggling automatically determine input sensitivity on or off does not do anything.

You can go to Settings -> Voice & Video -> Input Volume that will help to fix mic sensitivity. as you can follow this guide on How to adjust mic sensitivity in discord?

There is a problem in the discord app, I believe.
Generally, input sensitivity -100 db is less than 0 db. However, in the discord app, -100 db value gathers the sounds entirely and 0 db do nothing.
I would like the discord side to change the appearance of db in the input sensitivity setting section: not using db but anything else or add some announcements in the input sensitivity section such like the indicator of green level is audiable and the one of orange level is unaudiable.
