Discord images not loading [more info inside]

Ok so this is a bit of a weird one, I seem to have ruled out the most obvious solutions:

1. The problem only occurs on my laptop (macOS), my desktop and phone (both on the same wifi) load the images correctly. No images will load (shared in text chat, emoji, server icons, etc), other than some default images - default profile pics, the smiley emojis, etc.
2. If I open an image (shared in a text chat) in the browser, it loads correctly (so this rules out networking issues, blocked domains, etc), but the Discord app (either in the browser or the desktop app) won't load any images.

Any other ideas what might be causing this issue?
