Ability to switch back to Email Authentication

As a person who experienced being locked out by 2FA, I'm making this post to ask for an option to switch back to Email. 2FA is supposed to be an extra layer of security for your account. It was never meant to be the one and only way you can get in to your account. Sure, lets say that 2FA keeps a lot of people out of your account. But at the same time the account owner is also facing a risk. I lost my phone with my authenticator and wasn't aware of the backup codes. And now since the security is relying too heavily on 2FA, I ended up losing that account. Please consider this.

    I am also locked out and I have not knowingly agreed to provide a phone number for SMS verification at any time. I don't have one so why would I? The app I use as a phone blocks all 2FA type SMS messages unless I pay a fee. That aside, discord has no right to suddenly demand personal information like that.

     

    As far as I can tell, my accounts were flagged for using an alternative client because the default discord app routinely crashes out my games and other browsers because its a resource slob. I tried to request a slim client like so many others have for a long time now and we've all been ignored. NATURALLY when I heard of another option I tried it. Who wouldn't? I'd have used one from discord, if they made a slim client as requested. Now others have done it instead. Thats what happens.

     

    They *may* want to say something about the ToS/EULA, but the fact is that far less than 0.05% of users ever read them. They, from any company, are usually worded in such a way as to be like another language the vast majority wouldn't understand anyway. In this case, people generally just want to talk to their friends and click on through.

     

    Now I'm being ghosted by support. I have 2 accounts locked since Sunday without a single word. One I rarely use because I made it, lost the login details and was having issues sorting that out so I just made the second one. Eventually I retrieved it.

    I have also never had 2FA do anything except screw me around where ever it is used. Its also, quite ironically, disabled on both accounts. Yet here I am, stuck behind 2FA.
