Email sent for missed messages

I received an email recently about some unread private messages on Discord(on the 20th) I've never known Discord to do this in the past. There's no option to opt-out of it besides unsubscribing from emails from Discord entirely. Hadn't heard anything about this new "feature" being implemented either.

It's also kind of creepy. If someone messaged me something actually private, in PM's and then that goes through whatever automated system on Discord's end to email me about "hey look! listen! hey! listen! you missed a message" that is kind of weird. Obviously messages are not fully encrypted or private on Discord but to my knowledge they're never purposefully accessed by Discord except for rare instances. Now they're accessing it to send an automated message in an email.

Why is this even a feature anyway? At the bottom of the email it promotes downloading the mobile app presumably to never miss messages. Which I already have installed. It's really unnecessary. On what planet would anybody find this useful?
