Can confirm, it wasn't like this on the 26th. They changed it yesterday. It's an unneeded restriction that slows  things down, as I'm always posting images in mass. And its even worse that all the files count together towards the 8MB limit, despite none of them being above that. No matter what I tried I couldn't get past it, and it definitely made me hate discord that much more. Needs to be reverted.

I can also confirm that Discord now counts all files selected in the window towards the limit(rather than checking each file's size individually), which is unusual, given that the files are still functionally separate messages when uploaded this way.

Exactly what purpose this change is for is not clear, other than that it eliminates one of two methods to upload multiple files in sequence. It seems like an unnecessary inconvenience to force the user to open extra upload windows for each file they want to post.

Welp, now on top of that they made it so all of the files count as a singular message as if being sent on mobile, so if you wanted to reply to a specific file, you instead select every file that was sent together. Discord is slowly going downhill with every unneeded change, and eventually its going to be a pain to use. I would hope it doesn't end up that way, and they stop making unneeded changes and fix things that need fixing, but than again I'd have better luck hoping to win the lottery.

As far as I know, there's no work around sadly, so we have to deal with this bullshit till they fix it, IF they do.
