Changing the email of your account should require a verfication from the "old" email

My account got stolen and they changed the email associated with it. The strange part is that the hacker could change the email with only my password and not with a confirmation of the change from the "old" email associated with the account.

Some people argue that this would be a bad idea since a lot of people change their email on their account because they've forgoten the login to their email, but I think that such a change should have to go through customer support. Because in my mind, it's better to submit a ticket to change the email, than to submit a ticket, that will take several hours if not days to be resolved, to recover your account.
